List of 10 Each Day
A random listing of things can help everyone widen their imaginations and ideas. It can help you think on the spot about a specific topic or category given. Here in Portal Integrators, before we do the daily stand-up to ask how the work of everybody was, we have this list of 10 every day. Each day, a specific topic or category is given, and everyone should contribute and share their ideas and thoughts, and they are all listed in a spreadsheet.
We have started last October 26, 2017. The first category given was a list of 10 movies to watch. Everyone shared his or her choice of movie, and I must say they were all must-watch movies that the team would enjoy. The movies on the list include Thor: Ragnarok, Coco, Bad Genius, Baby Driver, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Constantine, Justice League, The Barker, Geostorm, and Flatliners.
The second day, we have the category of places to visit. Most of us picked a location outside the country, but there are also places that we want to visit in the Philippines. The places shared by the team were Paris, South Korea, Italy, Hongkong, Seattle, Japan, Boston, Boracay, Baguio and Ilocos Norte.
On Friday, we chose to list programming languages that we want to master. As a developer, each of us also has his or her strengths and weaknesses when it comes to what language we use. Some may excel on that one, but some may find it very hard. So for everyone in our team to know what each of us wanted to master, we chose this category, and we’ve all shared our thoughts. The programming languages that each of us wants to master are Swift, ROR, Python, Java, Php, AngularJS, ReactJS, Cobol, Perl and C#.
For this week, the last list of 10 we have for October 31, 2017, is the things we learned from the AWS Online Conference happened on the same date. We streamed on AWS and attended their session online. It composed of 5 modules, and after every end of it, we took a quiz regarding the topic on each module. So from there, we got our list of 10 things we learned from the AWS Online Conference. These are the list that each of us have shared: Amazon SNS, Amazon S3 Versioning, Amazon Virtual Private Cloud(VPC), Amazon Simple Storage Service(S3), Amazon Elastic Block Store(EBS), AWS Global Infrastructure, Availability Zones and Data redundancy, Data Center Security and Identity and Access Management(IAM).
It was fun sharing each of our thoughts and ideas. It also serves as an icebreaker for the team. We’ll continue having this every day before our Daily Stand-up to have a warm-up.
