Did you know you can use most of the Office 365 apps for free? It is not very obvious when you go to the Office 365 website. The website lays out the three different primary group of users – household, small/medium business and enterprise. Under the plans and pricing, you can find the various subscription plans for each, but nowhere in any of these plans can you find the free plan.

So what are the Office 365 apps included in the free plan? It includes Outlook, Contacts, Calendar, OneDrive, Word Online, Excel Online, PowerPoint Online, OneNote Online and Sway. The free plan only allows you to use these apps online. If you have good internet connection and don’t need to have the apps installed to your computer’s hard drive, the free plan would be a good option. So if you have a Word document from school or work, you can view and edit the document using Word Online. Take note that the online versions of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint do not have all the functionalities of its installed versions. If you are an Excel master ninja, you may find some of its super powers stripped.

I created a Sway to show the steps on how to create a free account.
