Admin Center
According to announcement here, the “completely revamped SharePoint Admin” is expected to be available to SharePoint Online’s “first-release” customers on the first quarter of 2018.
Home page will include insights to important aspects of SharePoint sites such as site activities, messages and service health.
Site Management will let admins view site data and activities with the ability to sort and filter.
Migration Tool
This one was part of the announcement on Microsoft Ignite event and is said to be a fast migration solution that will help migrate content and file shares from sites on SharePoint on-premise to SharePoint Online or OneDrive. The tool is currently released as beta and can be accessed here.
Hub Sites
A new addition to SharePoint Online users are the Hub Sites. With hub sites, we can have classic sites, team sites, as well as communication sites and associate them to the hub. Navigation and the look and feel will be shared. This will add up to a great sharing experience, rolling up news and activities and sharing knowledge and information across all associated sites. This is also expected to be released to “first-release customers” in the first half of this year.
Team And Communication Sites Improvements
Also expected to be released in the first half of year 2018 are the improvements on the Communication Sites and Team Sites. The following new web parts will be available.
Communication Sites – Planner, Group Calendar, Twitter and Connectors
Team Sites – Group Calendar, Planner, Document Library
Other roadmap items include improvements to Lists, Libraries and Pages, Use of one-time passcodes for simplified sharing, and other improvements on Microsoft Teams, such as providing access to SharePoint pages through a tab in a Teams channel.
These are just some of the exciting changes and improvements that are rolling out this year. Be on the constant look out for these updates, as they will surely improve the way we collaborate using SharePoint.
